The camp has been inaugurated by Principal, Dr. Narinder Sandhu, President, Ranjodh Singh and Jagtar Singh, General Secretary, Ramgarhia Educational Council. 150 students from the college and 15 non-students have participated in the camp under the supervision of Dr. Sawarn Grewal, Prof. Kanchan Mahendru and Prof. Jasmeet Kaur. True to the motto of NSS, “Not me, but you,” the camp also aims to motivate the students to become responsible world citizens. The theme of the camp is “Healthy Public Sanitation, Personal Hygiene”.
While addressing the volunteers, Dr. Narinder Sandhu said that being sensitive towards the people around us is the prime need of the hour. If we learn to respect each other’s requirements and space, the world would certainly be a better place to live in.
While emphasising the need for organising such camps, Ranjodh Singh and Jagtar Singh averred that through these kinds of endeavours, the social consciousness of people can be enriched.
The Programme Officers apprised the volunteers of various activities that will be undertaken over the period of seven days. Dr. Sawarn Grewal impressed upon them the need to be vigilant about the social evils that are prevalent in our society and raise voice against them. Prof. Kanchan Mahendru also stressed upon the importance of dedicating oneself to the cause of society and of providing selfless service to those in need. Adding to that, Prof. Jasmeet said that we cannot expect the society to change by condemning it alone, the need is to get up and do something about it.
