
National Voters Day being celebrated at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar on Saturday.

Jalandhar, January 25, 2014: National Voters Day was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar to sensitise students to the importance of the day and the crucial role they can and should play in a democratic country such as India. The function was organized by Social Sensitization Cell in which students presented their views on a wide range of topics that celebrated the spirit of democracy by expressing their views on topics like the Role of Youth in the present day, the sacrifices made by martyrs like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, the vibrant spirit of India, Unity in Diversity etc.
Among the students of the college who presented their views on stage, Manpreet Kaur of MA English Semester II was honoured for her thought provoking poetry with the theme that India is crying and need her children to forget the differences unite for the peace and progress of humanity. Other students to receive the prizes were Jaspreet Singh, Onkar Singh, Manpreet Kaur, Gurpreet Singh, Savinna Kaur, Ajay Kumar, Harneesh, Manshant and Nagesh Bhandwaj.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr G S Samra highlighted the importance of the day and urged the students of the college to become voters and ensure that they cast their votes in favour of right candidates and also to spread this message in society.
Prof. Sarita Tiwari convener of the cell conducted the stage and arranged the whole function.
