Jalandhar, March 12, 2014: An Awareness Programme on Voting Rights was held in Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar on Wednesday. Students pledged to vote by making a human chain under the slogan ‘We Will Vote’.
The event was organised to make the students aware of the power of ballot.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Manjit Singh Cheema, Assistant Commissioner, Jalandhar informed the students about their voting right and also of their duties as voters. He urged the eligible students to get registered as voters to participate in forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The college principal Dr. GS Samra said that awareness about power of vote was the need of the hour and young people as aware voters could play a significant role in the shaping up of the next government.
