Punjab Plywood Manufacturers Association (PPMA) holds meeting at Ludhiana on Friday.
Ludhiana, March 14, 2014: Punjab Plywood Manufacturers Association (PPMA) in its meeting held here today asked the central & state governments to take effective steps & measures by virtue of which real estate, business, government projects, construction & building activities may be uplifted.
Ashok Juneja, Chairman (PPMA) said that said activities will considerably enhance the demand of Punjab`s plywood & plyboard industries. He added if government can give free electricity to certain farmers it should also supply electricity at lower rates to agro industry also since agro-based industry has vital importance for progress of farmers & industrial development of Punjab.
Inderjit Singh Sohal, President & NareshTiwari, Secretary General (PPMA) said that it appears & reported that certain brokers, traders & suppliers of Yamuna Nagar, Haryana & other states purchase taxable poplar & safeda wood and try to cross through various escape routes & roads passing from Punjab to said states. They show wrong & fake Jamabandis & Fards & Patwari records at Sales Tax Check Barriers pretending themselves as owners, growers & farmers of Punjab & cross the said taxable wood which is causing heavy losses to state exchequers. They said that then by said “B” class wood the ply & board is manufactured and carried to Punjab without bills through secret routes & other barriers wrongly & illegally causing much disturbance & upsetting the plywood manufacturers of Punjab who sell their goods duly covered by genuine invoices & bills. They said government must control effectively to such wrong & fake purchasers who supply wood to Haryana, UP & others states from Punjab.
Baldev Singh & Harmeet Singh Honda, Vice Presidents (PPMA) said that on all banks loans and credit facilities etc for said agro based industry interest should be charged at lower rates to boost it.
Avinash Singla, Finance Secretary PPMA said that payment & outstanding period against credit facility given to dealers must be reduced considerably to save the industry since all kinds of raw material & wood payment is purchased by industry on cash & carry basis.
