GGN College holds seminar on Emerging Paradigms in Banking Sector

A National Seminar on Emerging Paradigms in Banking Sector being organised in the GGN Khalsa College, Ludhiana on Saturday.

Ludhiana, March 15, 2014: A National Seminar on Emerging Paradigms in Banking Sector was organised in the GGN Khalsa College, Ludhiana under the patronage of Khalsa Educational Council and the principal of the College by the Department of Commerce. The General Secretary  Prof Sohinderjit Singh, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council was present for his blessings at the inaugural function of the seminar.

After the felicitations, Prof Sohinderjit Singh welcomed the guests. 

Dr. Deepak Walia introduced the theme of the seminar to the audience.  Dr. Sucha Singh Gill, Director, Centre of Rural Research and Development, Chandigarh, presided over the inaugural session. In his presidential remarks he touched upon the somewhat hidden facets of the banking sector. He initiated his lecture with Economics Theory and considering Banking System a part of the overall economy.  Distinguishing financial and real sector he illustrated his view point and highlighted the coordination of financial sector and growth rate of economy.  He emphasised the role of public sector banks for the public in general in rural areas.

In his keynote address, Dr. M. P. Singh, Director, School of Management Studies, IET, Bhaddal, dwelt upon  the theme of the seminar with remarkable effectiveness and with documentary proofs.  He focused on the various dimensions of the banking sector like retail banking, wealth management, low Cost, branch network, Mobile Banking, customer relationship.   He also highlighted the problems and prospects of the banking sector and solutions thereof.

About 50 papers were received for the seminar.  The first technical session was presided over by Dr. Mahesh Chand Garg, Professor, Haryana School of Business, Guru  Jambeshwar University, Hissar.  Dr. B.S. Virk, Prof. Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia,  Govt. College, Kapurthala was the guest of honour for the session. He focused on the topic Micro Finance As a Tool for Financial Inclusion.

The second Technical Session was presided over by Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Prof. & Head of Business Administration, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.  And the guest of honour was Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Deputy General Manager, State Bank of Patiala, Ludhiana The presented papers dwelt upon the subject of  emerging paradigms. Many scholarly presentations were made. The seminar was a blend of the divergent view on the theme which can be proven as a challenge for the young generation in order to understand the new perspectives of the banking system.  The gap between the diversities would definitely be fulfilled.  The hall was packed to the capacity and an-interactive session followed.  Principal Manjit Singh Chhabra   proposed a vote of thanks.

Notable among the present were many economists and Professors of Commerce.  Prof. Parmjit Singh, Jatinder  Sekhon, Dr. Deepak Walia, Prof. Munisha, Prof. Manpreet Kaur, Prof. Harsimran Singh, Prof. Preeti, Prof. Supriya, Prof. Ramneet, Prof. Neelam Khullar contributed a lot towards the success of the function.
