5 Ludhiana students shine at International Olympiad

Ludhiana, June 30, 2014: The 5 city students have shined at Science Olympiad Foundation’s International Olympiad while getting State Rank 1.
Aanya Chowdhery, class 2 from Sat Paul Mittal School, Guranurag Singh, class 3 from Guru Nanak Public School (jr sec.), Ripudaman Singh, class 6th from Sr Secondary School have got State Rank 1 in National Cyber Olympiad. Whereas Rupanshu Goyal, class 10+2 from St.Thomas Sr.Secondary School and Arnav Bansal, class 8 from DAV, Public School have got state rank 1 in International Mathematics Olympiad.
Justice Dipak Misra, Judge Supreme Court of India was chief guest at the awards function which was held at The Chinmaya Mission Auditorium in Delhi recently. The Guests of Honor, Prof. YS Rajan, Chairman NIT Manipur, Richard Everett– Director Education, British Council India and Suprama Misra also recorded their presence.
Speaking during occasion, Justice Dipak Misra emphasised on the need of humility and sincerity in students, parents and teachers too. He asked the winners to be ambitious, but analyse their inadequacies too.
Mahabir Singh, the Founder & Executive Director of SOF said that over 34 lac students from 27,000 schools of 1360 cities across India and 16 countries participated in the Olympiad exams during 2013-14 and millions of students appeared in the Olympiads. About 24,000 students from 3,350 schools have been awarded for achieving top state level ranks. Close to 4,60,000 students have been awarded “Medals of Excellence”, for achieving top ranks in their respective schools. A certificate of participation and a personalized performance analysis report is also provided to each student in their school.”
He said besides Olympiads that SOF also provided an annual scholarship of Rs 5,000 each to 300 meritorious girl children from economically weaker section under the Girl Child Scholarship Scheme (GCSS). It also provided scholarship of Rs 5000/ each to 120 students excelling in English language. SOF was also sending students to Singapore to attend a Computing Program in association with The National University of Singapore. It also conducted Teachers’ Training Programmes, through British Council to share improved educational techniques with teachers.
