KMV, Jalandhar on Saturday organising Extension Lecture on Radioactivity.
Jalandhar, August 2, 2014: PG Department of Physics of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organised an extension lecture on “Assessment of Radiological Risk due to Environmental Radioactivity-Present & Future Research Prospective”.
Dr. Rohit Mehra, Associate Professor at Dr.B.R. Ambedkar national Institute of Technology, Jalandhar was invited as Guest Speaker. In his lecture he interacted with the students of M.Sc. Physics and students of B.Sc. He explained them the concept of types & sources of radiation in a very interesting way and explained about the Radiation dose. He highlighted that radioactivity can influence the body through soil, water, air & building material. He also told about the long term impact of radiation exposure on health and gave vast knowledge about Nuclear Track Detectors.
Principal Prof. Atima Sharma expressed her gratitude to the speaker and encouraged the faculty for holding such events. She also motivated the students for upgrading their knowledge with these events.
