Chandigarh, August 21, 2014: The Special Teams of Education Department today conducted surprise visits in three districts including Jalandhar, Faridkot and Nabha with a view to maintain punctuality and discipline in Punjab Schools and found 69 teachers absent, listed 63 long time absentee teachers and 84 late comers. It may be mentioned that it is the 2nd Special Surprise check in last 3 days. On Tuesday Special teams of the Education Department conducted surprise checks in 984 schools in which total 35 teachers were found absent while 51 teachers were late whereas 23 teachers were found long time absentees.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson said that following the directions of Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema the special teams were conducting surprise checks throughout the state to ensure punctuality and discipline. He said that three Circles namely Jalandhar, Faridkot and Nabha (Patiala) today visited by the special teams at the same time. He said that during the special checking total 69 teachers were found absent while 84 teachers were late whereas 63 teachers were found long time absentees. He said that immediately after opening the schools special teams visited 426 schools of Jalandhar Circle, 187 schools of Nabha (Patiala) Circle and 219 schools of Faridkot Circle.
He further said that 44 teachers were found absent in Jalandhar Circle and 63 were late comers while 37 found long time absentee. In Nabha (Patiala) Circle 9 teachers were found absent, 9 late comers and 11 were long time absentee. Similarly, in Faridkot Circle 16 teachers were found absent, 12 late comers and 15 were found long time absentee.
Meanwhile Punjab Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that strict action would be taken against long time absentee teachers while necessary action according to department rules would also be initiated against those found absent and late comers.
