Jalandhar, August 26, 2014: The Gandhian Studies Centre of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organised a one day UGC sponsored National Seminar on “World in Crisis: Gandian Alternatives” in the premises of the college. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Padamshree (Dr.) Ravindra Kumar, former Vice Chancellor, Meerut University.
The morning session began with the introductory address delivered by Professor Atima Sharma, Principal of the College. Prof (Dr) Rajiv Lochan, from Department of History, Punjab University, Chandigarh was the keynote speaker on the occasion.
Rajinder Mayor Treasurer, Arya Shiksha Mandal presided over the morning session of the seminar. Dr. Monica Sharma, Director, Gandhian Studies delivered vote of thanks. The morning session of the seminar was followed by a panel discussion which included panelists like Dr. Ravindra Kumar, Former VC, Meerut University. Dr. K.K. Ghai, (former, Head, Political Science Dept. DAV College, Jalandhar), Dr. Dinesh Chahal (Central University, Haryana), Dr. Neshala (Principal, Sri Sai College of Education, Badhani, Pathankot) and Dr. Rakesh Bawa (guru Nanak Khalsa College, Daroli Kalan). Prof. Atima Sharma, Principal Kanya Maha Vidyalaya was moderator in the panel discussion in which the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi ji’s ideologies in present scenario was discussed in detail. Various faculty members and students of the college also interacted in this panel discussion. Human values promoted by Mahatma Gandhi through his moments were discussed and the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi as a world leader was depicted through this panel discussion. It is worth mentioning here that the Gandhian Studies Centre of KMV had been promoting value education since its inception and till date had successful provided free of cost education to 750 women.
