
World Tourism Day being celebrated at CT Group of Institutions, Jalandhar on Monday.
Jalandhar, September 29, 2014: A week long celebrations of Tourism day was held at CT Institute of Hotel Management (CTIHM), Maqsudan campus. World Tourism Day 2014 was celebrated under the theme of Tourism and Community Development - focusing on the ability of tourism to empower people and provide them with skills to achieve change in their local communities.
World Tourism Day (WTD), celebrated as a global observance to highlight tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value. CT Institute of Hotel Management celebrated the Day by organizing events throughout the week. Many events like traditional dress showcasing, sketch making of tourism monument, Essay writing competition, Paper presentation on the theme Community Development, Model Making, Folk Song, Folk Dance, Exhibition of different states handicrafts was organised.
Destination selling contest of various places of tourism importance was organized and Jonathan from Mizoram bagged the first prize. Students were seen wearing dresses from different states like Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Nepal etc.
The last day of the event was mark by pledge taking for being a responsible tourist and other cultural activities. Rohit Sarin, Principal, CTIHM said that the flow of tourists is increasing every year in India and by 2025 India will have 10% increase in the flow of tourist.
S. Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman, CT Group of Institutions to promote the tourism is the need of an hour. The healthy tourism will make the country grow and led to its development in a swift manner. He said, “Our youngsters should understand their responsibility by paying attention towards the upliftment of tourism standards in our country. Like our students, every citizen should take a pledge to promote tourism and to be a responsible citizen.”
