Dharamsala, May 28, 2013: Nagrota Bagwan in Kangra district is one of the four senior secondary schools notified for education of the physically challenged students in the state.
The other three schools notified by HP Government are situated in the cities of Shimla, Nahan and Jogindernagar.
Ajai Srivastava, Chairman of Shimla-based Public Welfare Trust Umang Foundation said, “The government has notified four senior secondary schools as inclusive where disabled students will study along with other children. Eight more schools are to be made inclusive schools soon.”
Umang Foundation yesterday, honoured 26 physically challenged students to sensitive people about inclusive education.
Srivastava said that 20 girls with visual and hearing disabilities are studying in the Portmore school, which denied admission to the disabled girls in 2011. Later, on the intervention of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, the school gave admission to three blind girls and waived off their entire fee.
