Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal with Everest Expedition Team of Lawrence School, Sanawar at Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Chandigarh, June 11, 2013: Seven students of Lawrence School, Sanawar after their successful Everest Expedition today called on Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to share their joy and excitement with their old Sanwarian
Comprising of a summit team of seven boys in the average age group of 16 yrs Prithvi singh Chahal of patiala, Hakikat Singh Grewal of Sangrur, Fateh singh Brar of Muktsar, Guribadat singh of Ropar, Shubham kaushik of Haryana, Raghav Joneja of UP and Ajai Sohal of HP were very happy for encouragement given by Punjab Deputy CM to the team to opt for this expedition and enjoy the adventure in conquering the highest peak in the world.
They informed that they could perform this after a 7 month rigorous training schedule was drawn out, which would ensure a progressive and scientific build up of strength, stamina, endurance, aerobic capacity and technical mountaineering skills of the team. In school, the team members were further imparted three weeks of enhanced endurance.
Sharing their excitement, the Deputy CM said that he was happy that his school team has become the youngest team in the world to climb Mt Everest, of whom four are from Punjab. They have become the first school team to climb and Raghav Joneja became the youngest Asian, was really commendable.
