Ferozepur, July 22, 2013: The School Committees, Panchayats and parents of children have refused to accept the mid-day meal supplies taking a serious note of sub-standard supply of the same in the schools falling under Guruharsahai Block manned by Zila Parishad.
A written memorandum was presented to this effect, highlighting the detection of mosquitoes, flies, lizards etc from the meal supplied by the contractors and half-baked chapattis. The poor quality cooked rice was alleged in the letter stating that any untoward incident could happen with the students with the supply of unhygienic food in the mid-day meal supplies.
Expressing serious concern over the deaths of children in Bihar after consuming the mid-day meal, they said, in case any incident like Bihar is repeated, who is responsible for the same?
They further said, in case no written responsibility is taken by any senior authority, the mid-day meal supplies will not be accepted by the schools.
They also appealed that the mid-day meal kitchen should be only for four-five schools so that good quality food is prepared and served fresh to the nearby schools so that innocent children in the schools may be become victim like Bihar.
The schools which did not accept the mid-day meal include, Basti Kesar Singh Wali, Gobindgarh, Chugha, Baghuwala, Lakhmirwala, Mothan Wala, Lapo, and others schools falling in Guruharsahai block.
