Jalandhar News- University of Nevada, Reno, USA to collaborate with Lyallpur Khalsa College

Representatives of University of Nevada ranked among top 200 universities visit Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar.

Jalandhar, September 23, 2013: Representatives of University of Nevada ranked among top 200 universities visited Lyallpur Khalsa College to hold formal discussions on collaboration in areas of academics, research and resource sharing.
Principal Dr. Samra welcomed the guests and faculty members and informed the present that discussions for such an initiative of coming together of these reputed pioneering institutions have been going on for sometime now. He was enthusiastic about this proposal of university of Nevada as it would extend the reach and influence of both the institutions. Outlining briefly the features and achievements of the college, he informed the visiting members that Lyallpur Khalsa College was recently accredited with a grade from NAAC with high score of CGPA : 3.74 ranking it among the first three institutions of the country accredited by it, and also that the college held the proud distinction of being awarded Star college status by Ministry of Science & Technology, Deptt. of Biotechnology, Government of India.
He appreciated the keen interest and efforts of the visiting Dr. Everett Jackson and Sunny Kalia and extended to them all the support and cooperation on the behalf of the management,
Everett Jackson of university of Nevada gave a detailed presentation on the history and contribution of the University of Nevada highlighting the academic, research and other areas of mutual interest in which collaboration can benefit students and faculty of both the institutions.
He alongwith Sunny Kalia associated with the same university visited various departments of Lyallpur Khalsa College, KCL Institute of Management and Technology and Lyallpur Khalsa College of Engineering to interact with the faculty and have a look at the educational infrastructure to explore avenues of interest for mutual cooperation.
Identifying such specific areas another round of talks was held among the members of both the institutions in which HODs of Commerce, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Physiotherapy and Engineering, gave presentations about their departments and sought and shared information and experiences with the visiting members.
A number of areas emerged where both the institutions were keen to engage with each other in promoting the interest of students, faculty and community like collaborative research, faculty exchange, technology transfer, awareness campaigns, Skill upgradation, student scholarship, cultural exchange.
Everett Jackson on the occasion shared his excitement on the prospective coming together of these two great institutions of the two respective continents. He informed the present members that the next and final round for culminating this initiative into signing of an agreement (MOU) will soon be held in America or here in Jalandhar as to the wish of the Principal and the Management.
