Ludhiana News- RGC shines brilliantly at youth and heritage festival

Ludhiana, September 27, 2013: The students of Ramgarhia Girls College garnered a number of prizes in an array of items at the Youth and Heritage Festival held at Khalsa College for Women from September 23 to 26.

The students romped home victorious with first prize in five items like Indian Orchestra, Folk Orchestra, Ladies Traditional Song, Navroop Kaur in Instrumental Music (Non-percussion) and Parminder Kaur in Pakhi Making.

The students bagged second prize in five categories like Kavishri, Group Song, Group Shabad, Bhavna Handa in Folk Song, and Harjot Kaur in Poster Making.

Third prize was won in eight items like Group Dance, Installation, Harminder Kaur in Classical Vocal, Amandeep Kaur in Rangoli, Harpreet Kaur in Instrumental Music (Percussion), Harjot Kaur in On the Spot Painting, Navdeep Kaur in Elocution and Kiranjeet Kaur in Histrionics. Eight Individual prizes were captured by the students.

Anureet Kaur in Group Shabad and Jeewanpreet Kaur in Ladies Traditional Song were awarded the first prize.

Amandeep Kaur in Indian Orchestra, Tanjeet Kaur in Folk Orchestra, Sukhandeep Kaur in Kavishri and Kali got the second prize. Gurpreet Kaur in Group Dance and Sukhandeep Kaur in Vaar seized the third prize.

The College Principal, Dr. Narinder Sandhu said that it is due to the sincere hard work of the students and the dedication of the teachers, who play an important role in chiseling their talent, that they have gathered a considerable number of prizes in the Zone-B. She further asked the students who have clinched the first prize to gear up for the Inter-Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival to be held in the last week of October at A. S. College, Khanna.

Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgarhia Girls College and S. Jagtar Singh, General Secretary, Ramgarhia Educational Council congratulated the participants and said that such competitions are instrumental in the over-all development of the students and besides winning, mere participation also boosts their confidence and enables them to polish their competencies.
