Ludhiana, November 19, 2013: Living alone in old days is reality of present life. Due to highly negligent nature and lack of patience among children, they send their parents or grandparents to old age homes to spend their second inning of their life. NCC cadets of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in collaboration with 3 Punjab Girls Bn., NCC, Ludhiana organised a visit to ‘Nishkam Sewa Ashram’, an Old Age Home situated near the Daad Village, Ludhiana on Tuesday.

36 NCC Cadets interacted with 30 immates of the old age home and stayed there for 3-4 hours.  They shared their emotional experience with them.

The visit was an attempt to inculcate a sense of selfless service towards the less fortunate people. The motive behind the activity was to make young and energetic NCC cadets, make aware of the pain of loneliness, which these old people experience.

Realizing the pitiable condition of these old people, the cadets promised that at least their parents would not face these circumstances and loneliness. The founder of Ashram also interacted with the cadets and motivates them to become responsible citizen.

Dr. Varinder Kaur Thind, Principal Khalsa College for Women, appreciated the efforts made by the cadets and teachers.
