
Jalandhar-based Poonam Jain takes home the winner's trophy of Chef-De-Jalandhar at a studded grand finale organised by CT Institute of Hotel Management Jalandhar.

Jalandhar, December 14, 2013: City-based Poonam Jain took home the winner's trophy of Chef-De-Jalandhar at a studded grand finale organised by CT Institute of Hotel Management Jalandhar.
During the grand finale the kitchen stars churned out the dishes with flamboyance their plates seemed to be the work of art & knowledge was as impeccable as that is of the food scientist.
A special panel of three judges was also called to taste the final dish of the three finalists. The panelists included the renowned figures of the hotel industry namely Chef Sandeep Kalra, Executive Chef, The Trident Gurgaon , Chef Aditya Jaimini, Executive Chef Crown Plaza New Delhi & Master Chef Vijay Lakshmi.
All the judges gave marks to the top three for their dishes and Poonam Jain obtained the highest marks. The cash prize of Rs.1 lakh added to the sweetness of her victory. Tanul Anand is the first runner-up took home the prize of Rs.50, 000 and Harmanpreet received the prize of Rs.30,000.
The one -week series started with the total 940 participants from all over Doaba region. It showcased the cooking abilities of the contestants including students, housewives, amateurs or the professional chefs & cooks.
The officials & teams of the co-sponsors 92.7 Big FM, PTC, Voice of Punjab & Punjab National banks were also present during the grand finale.
Expressing the delight over the coveted success Poonam Jain said, “Today I feel confidence & with the spur of confidence I can say that my practical knowledge has actually paid off. I have experimented a lot with food, and practised over the years. Also, I am thankful to my mother-in-law, who taught me some basic rules of cooking. The regular practice to prepare different dishes helped me brush up my culinary skills.”
