
Rotaract Club of GGN Khalsa College, Ludhiana participate in ‘End Polio Now Campaign’.
Ludhiana, February 24, 2013: Rotaract Club of GGN Khalsa College participated in ‘End Polio Now Campaign’.
Rotaractors worked in 2 teams which included President Amarpal Singh, Director Manjot Singh, Sunpreet Singh, Rahul Pal and others members.
Amarpal Singh said they worked both way; one team had provided vaccination by door to door service and other team vaccinated children at Main Dispensary of Model Town, and covered about half of the Model town area in which over 450 children were immunised.
He added virus P2 was eradicated in the country but still they were fighting against Viruses P1 and P3 which were present in fewer ratios. He further added with help of the government, ‘Rotary international’ was trying to eradicate Polio from the country and would soon declare a Polio free country.
“The Polio eradication campaign in India is one of the best public health programmes in the country. From more than a year only one case of polio was reported throughout the country, which is a huge achievement for a country of India’s size”, said Manjot Singh. He also said Ludhiana was polio free since 2009.
Sunpreet Singh and Rahul Pal (members) said it was first time that they participated in pulse polio campaign and felt very nice by giving their contribution in this social service.
