Jalandhar, April 22, 2014: Annual Convocation was organised at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya on Tuesday.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Gurdev Singh Ghuman, DPI(C)Punjab.
Dr. R.K. Kohli, Vice Chancellor, DAV University, Jalandhar presided over the function and delivered the convocation address. 948 students who had graduated and 190 students who had post-graduated in 2011-12 and 1015 students who had graduated and 206 students who had post-graduated in 2012-13 received their degrees. 32 students who had stood first in the University Exam April 2012 and 22 students who have stood first in Univ Exams 2013 were honoured with Gold Medals and they signed the ‘Roll of Honour’.
Among those present were principals from local colleges and members of the local managing committee. Meenu Singh from Leeds, UK who is the Managing Director of Leeds and is actively involved in solving the problems of the Asian Committee also graced the occasion.
Principal Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj welcomed the guests and motivated the degree holders to be positive in life.
Gurdev Singh Ghuman congratulated the institution for its unparalleled growth over the years. He promised to create a corruption free environment and work towards making the administration more efficient.
On this occasion, the research journal ‘Computer Apex’ was released by the Computer Science Department Dr. R.K. Kohli enlightened the audience with his gems of wisdom laying focus on women education. Receiving a degree brings an element of responsibility with it. He emphasised the need of setting higher goals in life and added that our goals must match our actions.
