
Two day international conference on effective IT security evaluation concludes at GGN Institute of Management & Technology, Ludhiana on Sunday.
Ludhiana, May 26, 2013: Two day international conference on effective IT security evaluation was conducted at GGN Institute of Management & Technology today.
On the second day Dr. Maninder Singh, Head Department of Computer Science Thapar University shared with the audience the importance of safe internet surfing. He outlined the process for verifying the identity of websites before proceeding on them . He also emphasised that students should safe guard their identities and password to avoid being victims of cyber criminals.
Lt. Col Gurinder Singh Saini sensitised the audience about the threat of cyber war, where countries would leverage on their superior cyber knowledge to gain tactical superiority over their enemies. He also touched upon the measures taken by the defense forces to prevent cyber attacks that may compromise the security of our nation. Therese Michael, an e-learning consultant and trainer deliberated on the opportunities available in the arena of ethical hacking. She advised the students to specialise in ethical hacking and contribute to a cyber crime free world.
During the morning session a special awareness programme was organised for school students and educationists to make them aware about safe surfing of internet and measures that should be taken to prevent being abused and victimised by cyber criminals.
Karnail Singh, Principal, GGN Public School appreciated the organiser’s initiative as this interaction would enable the students to make best use of internet and other e-learning initiatives. Nipun Jaiswal young cyber security professional advised the students to retrain from using their knowledge and intelligence for vandalising and unethical hacking rather they should channel their energy for success as an ethical cyber professional. He also sensitised the students about the threat of buffer over flows as it may lead to compromising the organisations’ security.
Director Kuldeep Singh and Principal Dr. P.S. Khattra appreciated the efforts put in by one young and enteric team of SECUGENIUS towards organising the international conference.
