
Ludhiana DCC (Urban) president Pawan Dewan hands over a cheque of grant of Rs. 3 lakh for construction building of Government Middle School, Kailash Nagar, Main Road, Ludhian. This grant has been given out Union Minister Manish Tewari’s MPLAD Fund.
Ludhiana, July 20, 2013: DCC (U), Ludhiana president Pawan Dewan and the party’s Assembly Constituency (East) Unit in-charge Gurmel Singh Pahalwan have said talent of needy children could be further improved by extending them financial assistance.
Addressing a gathering here on Saturday, they added the local MP and Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting (IC) Manish Tewari has been giving much concentration for promotion of educational sector in his parliamentary constituency.
On the occasion, Dewan handed over a cheque of grant of Rs. 3 lakh for construction building of Government Middle School, Kailash Nagar, Main Road, Ludhian. This grant has been given out Tewari’s MPLAD Fund. He revealed that Tewari has already distributed grants worth Rs. 11.13 crore out of his MPLADF worth Rs.11.50 crore.
Dewan said BJP was trying to mislead people, adding the data available on the internet was based on utilisation certificates, which is submitted after completion of work for which the grant is released. He added the utilisation certificate is issued by the concerned government agency. The administration is supposed to get the utilisation certificate and the concerned party or MP is not responsible for the same, he said.
Both Dewan and Pahalwan said there was a dire need to impart education to people belonging to all sections of the society to bring them in the mainstream. They added there was a need to upgrade infrastructure in the government schools to bring students studying in these schools at par with those studying in private schools.
They said the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre has released grants worth crores of rupees better facilities in the schools in Ludhiana district. And this has been made possible with the sincere and concrete efforts made by local MP and Union Minister Manish Tewari, they added.
Among others, principal Balwinder Kaur, PTA president Manjit Kaur, block president Sanjay Sharma, municipal councillors Varinder Sehgal and Prof. Harjinder Singh Lalli were present.
