Jalandhar, August 24, 2013: It was a day of ecstasy when more than 1,300 students of Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Information Technology & Hotel Management were conferred upon the degrees in fourth convocation held at Sardarni Manjit Kaur Auditorium Shahpur.

Wajahat Habibullah, Chairperson, National Commission on Minorities & Information Communication, Government of India, was the Chief Guest accompanied by Ambassador Deepak Vohra, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Republic of Guineea-Bissau, Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor PTU Jalandhar, Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman CT Group of Institutions, Harpreet Singh Vice Chairman, Manbir Singh, Managing Director CT Group of Institutions, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Group Director CT Group of Institutions & officials of PTU & Members of B.O.Gs of  CT Group of Institutions.

Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor PTU presided over the convocation function. He permitted the deans of various faculties to confer upon the degrees to various students. In his presidential remarks, he urged the students to be prepared to compete in the era of global competition. He advised the students to imbibe a penchant for learning new skills & keep themselves updated with the happenings of the world. Technology is a weapon to win if used judiciously & wisely, otherwise the same technology may lead to destruction of societies & economies he further added. The future of India seems to be bright as youth is getting equipped with technical & logical skills through technical education, he hoped. While counting the various innovative initiative of PTU taken in recent times, he promised to provide every kind of assistance required to the students.

Ambassador Deepak Vohra offered his heartiest congratulations to the graduating students and the award winners.  In his presidential address he assisted the fact that the youth of the country holds the fortunes of India of the future. He reminded them that the Indian economy offers a multiplicity of career options these days.  He counted the success stories of India by mentioning dynamic and growing private sector, a wide network of NGOs, a vibrant media made possible by the outsourcing of many jobs, which have significantly changed the scenario of employment in the country. At the same time, the economy has opened up to many more possibilities of entrepreneurial ventures, he added.

Highlighting the role of the educational institutions he further expressed the need to expand the horizon of knowledge to the masses, particularly to those who can make use of it for development. While citing the data of emergence of many universities and higher educational institutions which have mushroomed in India in recent times; he stressed the need to focus on the challenges of providing good quality education meeting global standards.

In his welcome speech Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman CT Group of Institutions said, “Our aim is to produce Qualitative human resource suitable to the requirements of the industry & academia. We are producing “tailor made” professionals to serve the nation as it is the tiring need of the age. The education must benefit society. Students pursuing education must be useful to industry and corporate world. For productivity of the better results we have started various development programmes for the students & faculty. Besides academics a special heed is being paid for the overall development of students so that they may be able to weather the storms of the cut-throat era & feel strong enough to grapple with the pangs of times.”

Dr. Manoj Kumar, Group Director CT Group of Institutions read out the Annual Report & shared, “. CT Group of Institutions has established itself a top brand. CT Institutions are excelling in the domain of education. Recently our institute has ranked 14th among Top Promising Engineering Colleges of Excellence. In addition to it, CT Institute of Engineering, Management & Technology has been selected as an eGov Campus. Various efforts are being made to hone the skills of Faculty & Students through FDPs, Guest Lecture(s), Workshops & Faculty Exchange Programmes with the National Institutes of Technology.

 He told that the students of our institutions have not only won accolades in academics but have also marked their presence in sports, technical competitions at the national level and also in co curricular activities. The holistic education being provided at CT inculcates in students the right attitude towards the things, a capacity to read between the lines & adjust them everywhere with ease & efficiency. We shall always keep on marching with the earnest efforts towards perfection & transform the nation with another renaissance & revival of learning so that India may lead the entire world, he declared.

While sharing the views, Habibullah shared, “Youth of the country can contribute in the progress of nation. The country is facing a number of challenges today. Freedom to bring the change lies with us. If we change the structure of academics, we can bring the outstanding change in hierarchy. That is necessitated for the growth of the country. Really India will shine & rule over the world with values & strong economy.”
