
GGNIMT, Ludhiana organising an awareness colloquium on the topic: “Changing Trends in Food Consumption” for the Hotel Management students on Monday.
Ludhiana, September 16, 2013: Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines organised an awareness colloquium on the topic: “Changing Trends in Food Consumption” for the Hotel Management students here today.
Shanti Mani, Head, Hotel Management Department initiated the seminar by giving the brief introduction about changing patterns in food habits amongst all age groups.
Prof. Dr. Molly Joshi, Former Chief Dietician, Department of Dietetics, CMC was the Keynote Speaker for the day.
Kuldip Singh, Director, GGNIMT welcomed the guest. This was followed by an interactive session where Dr. Joshi informed the students that the radical change in the diets of individuals was directly attributed to their changing life styles. She urged the students to be conscious about their diets as a healthy and nutritious diet was the secret to healthy and happy living. She explained the term BMI (Body Mass Index) as the ratio of weight (in kgs) and height (in cms). She advised the students to maintain their BMI for a healthy body. Dr Joshi also asked the students to monitor their junk food intake as it is rich in invisible fat that leads to obesity in youngsters.
Prof. Gunwant Singh Dua, Co-ordinator, GGNIMT, while talking to the media said that such awareness sessions went a long way in guiding the students to the right path, not just as individuals but also as professionals of Hotel industry. Principal Dr. P. S Khattra thanked the guest for sharing valuable insights with the students.
