PCTE Group of Institutes, Ludhiana celebrates World Pharmacist Day on Wednesday.
Ludhiana, September 25, 2013: Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PCTE Group of Institutes, Ludhiana celebrates World Pharmacist Day on Wednesday at campus 2.
P.K. Gill, Vice President, inaugurated the day with a medical camp, where more than 400 people from nearby villages, (Baddowal, Jhande, Aayali Kalan, Lalto etc.), students, faculty members & staff of PCTE availed this opportunity.
Dr. Jasneet Singh (MBBS, MD), Dr. Manish Garg (MS, Ortho), Dr. Rohit Verma and Dr. Sakshi Verma, (BDS), and Dr. Namita Gupta (Optometrist) with their team, gave their services during the camp.
Experts diagnosed the problems of body and free medicines were provided to the patients. During the camp valuable information was also shared with all people to maintain their good health. Pharmacy students actively participated and got the real experience of dispensing the medicines and consoling the patients. They also learned about the management skills required in the hospitals.
A lecture on HIV-AIDS was also delivered on the eve by Dr. Rohit. K. Singla to aware the students about the misperception of this deadly disease.
The day was concluded with a rally from PCTE Campus 2 to Campus 1. The students actively participated in rally using banners and posters of various diseases like diarrhea, fever, cough, HIV, cancer etc. It was an excellent way of creating awareness in general public regarding proper use of medicines and to update the knowledge base so that preventive measures against commonly prevailed diseases should be taken.
On this occasion Dr. G.S. Gill, Director Administration, PCTE Group of Institutes concluded that it will strengthen pharmacist community, as it is one of the three main pillars of the healthcare system with doctors and nurses being the other two. Dr. K.N.S Kang, Director General, was also present during the occasion and said that this celebration will be a boost to the pharmacists as healthcare providers and recognition for their persistent services to the mankind. Many of these types of camps will be organized in future to create awareness towards health.
