Jalandhar , November 20, 2013: Representatives of National College of Ireland a prestigious college of Ireland visited Lyallpur Khalsa College to discuss collaboration in a number of areas that include starting joint academic courses, collaborative research, faculty exchange, technology transfer, awareness campaigns, Skill upgradation, student scholarship, and cultural exchange.
Dr Jimmy Hill, Vice-President Academic Affairs and Research of the visiting institution was accompanied by two more representatives of the regional office of the institution situated in Hyderabad. The talks culminated in signing of an MOU between Lyallpur Khalsa College and National College, Dublin, Ireland in the streams of Bsc. (Honours) in Computing, Bsc. (Honours) in Software Systems, four year degree courses where students of Lyallpur Khalsa College will get an opportunity to complete their final two years of their undergraduate degree in Ireland after completion of their first two years in Khalsa college and the degree would be awarded by Govt of Ireland which is recognised all over the world. Principal of the College Dr. GS Samra gave this information in the press release today and that under this MOU students of Lyallpur Khalsa College will be taught by international faculty here at Lyallpur Khalsa College campus. Dr Jimmy Hill appreciated the keen interest and efforts of Dr. Samra and faculty members for their support and cooperation on the behalf of the management and shared his excitement on the prospective coming together of these two great institutions of the two respective countries. He invited the present members for further talks for culminating this initiative into admissions of students into the courses finalized in the MOU and for further discussion in other areas of mutual interest in which collaboration can benefit students and faculty of both the institutions. He added that this MOU would in times to come cover Commerce and other courses also.
On the occasion the team also identified further areas of interest after discussion with HODs of Commerce, Chemistry, Physiotherapy who gave presentations about their departments and who sought and shared information and experiences with the visiting members. Dr. Samra added that that the college has already signed an MOU with the University of Nevada Reno USA also.
