Chandigarh, December 6, 2013: The Education Department today exhorted all Principals and Heads of schools in state to ensure the healthy participation of students up to 15 years of age in ensuing 43rd Universal Postal Union (UPU) letter writing competition to be held at Chandigarh on January 5, 2013.
In a communiqué in this regard, Sikander Singh Maluka, Education Minister directs all authorities concerned to come with maximum meritorious students to prove their mettle in this prestigious competition. He informed ‘write a letter describing how music can touch lives’ would be the subject of competition. He said participation in this competition would further boost the morale of meritorious students and they could secure Rs. 2000 and a certificate as first prize, Rs. 1500 with certificate as second prize, Rs. 1000 along certificate as third prize and Rs. 250 to the best entry from each postal circle along a certificate.
The Education Minister also asked the school ensure that all applications on a plain paper along with two photos of participating students should reach well in time before 21-12-2013 in the office of The Chief Postmaster General, Chandigarh. He said that school heads would obtain applications from willing students, who were falling within the age group of 15 years as on 31-03-2014.
Maluka said that the best entry at the National level would qualify as the Official Indian Entry for the International level competition while UPU would select the award winning entries.
