Jalandhar News/Mega event Chef –De- Jalandhar inaugurated at CT Group of Institutions Jalandhar

Jalandhar, December 9, 2013: With the view to spur the talent of the budding chefs of Doaba region, CT Institute of Hotel Management inaugurated the mega event Chef-De-Jalandhar at the State-of-the Art, Sardarni Manjit Kaur Auditorium of CT Institutions. It is a peculiar culinary competition series based on the smash hit programme Master Chef. During this mega event, people who passionately cook as a hobby would fight for the title of ‘Chef de Jalandhar’. The competition would last till 14th December 2013.The event is with the key goal of sharing recipes and enjoying food, or a large-scale event with an official panel of judges and substantial prizes for winners.

The competition started with the lamp lightning ceremony wherein S. Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman CT Group of Institutions accompanied by Manbir Singh, Managing Director, Harpreet Singh, Vice Chairman, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Group Director & other dignitaries lit the sacred lamp.   As many as 940 contestants participated in the inaugural day of the competition that prepared their own particular recipes for event and showcased for taste testing. The contestants took the chef pledge before taking the part in the mega event.

 The contestants were put through the paces with various challenges as they competed head-to-head to create delicious dishes including different cuisines like Kashmiri, Punjabi, Oriental, Continental, Spanish Mexican, Italian, Chinese French etc. These everyday at-home cooks were seen to show their passion and excitement for food as they were put to the trial and judged by the renowned chefs of the country. A special chef walk was also the attraction of the event.

The panel of the judges includedPallav Singhal, Executive Chef J.W Marriott Chandigarh, Arvind Sharma, E.M Hyatt Amritsar, Vinod Zutshi, F&B Manager Radisson, Rahul Rawat Executive Chef Radisson etc.

Speaking on the occasion Rohit Sarin Principal CTIHM said, " The intent of the event is to make people aware of the latent talent they posses & promote the important place of the profession of the Chef. Today the tide of the requirements of the country demands a large number of the chefs who can globally work."

Sharing the views, Pallav Singhal, Executive Chef J.W Marriott Chandigarh, said, “In India where people are defined by what they eat, they are sure to take this contest as seriously as the food on their plate. I am very happy to see the spirit of the participants & well organized inauguration of the contest. This programme is  about people who are executives, house wives, home cooks and students, anyone and everyone is a part of the show; all you need is an undying passion to make great food.  ”

Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman CT Group of Institutions shared, “We wish to give more & more exposure to all who have a great craze for making food. Through this contest, the contestants will not only exhibit their talent but also they will be able to get the immediate feedback from the expert chefs.
